Culture Shock… 27 March 2008

Over my spring break, I decided I am going to attend Villanova University School of Law in Radnor Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.
One of the more interesting comparisons between where I attended high school, attend college, and will attend law school is the economic demographics of the areas. While Carmichaels, the town I attended high school, and Hillsdale are rural in nature and economically poor where as Radnor Township is very suburban and even more affluent.
For example, the median income of a family in each area:
Cumberland Township, Greene County, PA (where I attended hi gh school) - 36188
Hillsdale, Hillsdale County, MI (where I attend college) - 42649
Radnor Township, Delaware County, PA (where I will attend law school) - 107,771
Speaking of the affluent area around Villanova, Forbes recently had an article on affluent suburbs and mentioned Villanova while discussing the best suburbs in the Philadelphia region.

Well well well… the Democrats are talking about doing a revote in Florida and Michigan now. Instead of getting their act together in the first place, it appears the Democrats are going to be in a real tough position. So this trainwreck now is dependent on them:
And oh, by the way, any means of bringing these two states into the process now as tight as the race is, will grant them both precisely what they wanted in the first place: Decisive roles in picking the nominee.
I understand why people in both of these states feel like they are being cut out. Because, frankly, they are being cut out. What I don’t understand is how the Democratic Party is going to get itself out of the mess it is in without infuriating at least half of the people who have voted so far; specifically, whichever half winds up losing the nomination.
I’m also not sure which national level Democrat has the muscle and courage, given the raw feelings rising around this election, to step in and lead the charge toward a compromise.
Because in the end, if Florida and Michigan come back into the process, unless some sort of equal split is worked out, one candidate will benefit and one will suffer. And the losers are not going to be happy.
Obama, the wussy 6 March 2008

Barack Obama is a wussy. There is no other way of putting it. Politics is a bloodsport and Obama cannot even hit back effectively at Hillary Clinton. It will be a slaughter if McCain gets a chance to crush this guy.
Either Obama needs to get a spine soon or he will be destroyed by Hillary Clinton or softened up to the point that John McCain will smash him with one arm tied behind his back just to make it fair.
The American people want a leader not a hoper. They want someone who will stand up for them and smash those who get in the way. If Barack cannot smash Hillary, will he be able to stand up to foreign tyrants?
This is the modern Democratic Party. If they cannot win this election, the last one out of the party should turn off the lights.
The Pennsylvania Primary… 6 March 2008

I will say it now: Hillary Clinton will easily win the Pennsylvania primary on 22 April. It might be a tough fight, but in the end she will win by double digits or nearily double digits.
She will carry most of the state with the exception of Philadelphia County. Obama also probably has a slight chance in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery Counties. This is because western Pennsylvania is very much like eastern Ohio: blue collar, old, fairly unionized, and socially conservative. Obama will not play in this region. He will play in the affluent areas around Philadelphia and of course in Philadelphia County with its large African American population.
Also, Clinton has the party machine working for her with the Governor, Mayor of Philadelphia, State Party chair, and all of Democratic Party of PA working for her.
Yes She Will… live to fight until Denver 5 March 2008

Hillary Clinton, who I never counted out of this race, is in the thick of it to say the least to the convention now with her rout of a victory in Ohio and likely popular vote win in Texas. Now the real battle goes to Pennsylvania, which will be a political camp for the next month and a half seeing its the only major primary after Mississippi next week until May.
The real winner here is John McCain. Now the Democrats will engage in a bloodbath until August at least while he will be raising money and building party unity.

I disagree with McCain’s Cuba policy as I do not think the embargo is working, but I have to say he brings humor to the issue:
“I hope he has the opportunity to meet Karl Marx very soon,” McCain told a town-hall style meeting of about 150 people, referring to communist theoretician Marx who died on March 14, 1883.

While I got everything more or less planned out, I do not want to graduate. I am not afraid of going to law school to say the least… I do not get scared of academic affairs. For some reason, I wish my undergraduate experience was not nearing completion. I guess the reason is that I fear I will lose contact with a number of good friends that I am really attached to.
Can Obama handle a Republican assault? 20 February 2008

This is a serious question the Democrats need to ask themselves before nominating Obama. He has been slow in responding to the attacks from Clinton in many respects like Kerry was slow in responding to the attacks from Bush and the right in 2004.
Obama needs to be ready to respond to every Republican attack quickly and ruthlessly or they will eat him alive.

I am not someone who beats the drum of patriotism like many on the right, but please. The McCain people love this quote in the general to the point that they might outright marry it. Mrs. McCain should start touring the White House because these clowns are paving the way for them.
For the record, I could name a lot of great thing this nation has done since she became an adult, but I will only list a few:
1) Oversaw the fall of communism in eastern Europe. (200 million relieved of the pressure of communism behind the Iron Curtain)
2) The liberations of Grenada, Panama, Kuwait, Bosnia, Kosovo, Afghanistan, Haiti (twice), Liberia, and even Iraq.
3) The education level of this nation has never been higher. We have more people from a far more diverse set of backgrounds that are college educated than ever before. The Obamas should know this themselves.
